Why Is Halloween Scary?

Why Is Halloween Scary?

Most people aren’t really scared of witches or ghosts, and a lot of people even believe in them. Also, others aren’t afraid of the religious or the health or sexualization of young children because of Halloween, even though these are good things to be concerned about.

If someone is actually afraid of Halloween, chances are because there are so many Americans who believe in the myths that are related to Halloween, such as ghosts, witches, and even haunted houses. Many people believe in psychics, spiritual things, and extrasensory perception.

Halloween and Superstition

Halloween is a holiday that is centered around witchcraft and superstitions. This is something that can harm society. Even though not everyone celebrates Halloween to believe in the myths, some people use this holiday to take advantage of getting psychic readings, and this can cause the psychic industry to take advantage of the people.

This is an industry that has become very popular over time, but the problem is that many psychics use their so-called gifts to take advantage of people and are fraudulent. They will go and take advantage of those who are grieving, vulnerable, going through hard times, or those who don’t know where to turn.

Fraud in the Psychic Industry

The psychic business is a 2 billion dollars a year industry, and millions of people call or text to get a psychic reading. Even after lawsuits have happened throughout the years, there have been numerous times that the psychic world has caused fraud, such as collecting the Randi Educational Foundation’s million-dollar prize and even some criminal fraud.

One psychic in Florida named Rose Marks was convicted recently on fraud charges and for getting $40 million dollars from clients. Sylvia Mitchell is another psychic that was recently charged with grand larceny after she told a single mom that she was an Egyptian princess in her past life and should give her $27,000 to get rid of being dependent on money.

Even psychics that are well known like Sylvia Brown have made false predictions and once was accused of telling grieving parents that their daughter, Amanda Berry, who was missing, was in heaven and her last words were, “Goodbye, Mom, I love you,” but was later found alive after her mother had died of heart failure.

The Halloween-Psychic Connection

Research shows that almost 1 in 7 Americans have talked to a psychic and Halloween is just one of those holidays that promote psychic services and get people reaching out to them.

Psychic Source issued a press release that said, “Our collective focus on the spiritual world makes Halloween a favorable time for contacting the ‘other side.” On Halloween, psychic and spiritual readings can be especially productive because messages flow effortlessly.”

Even an international psychic reader, Lisa Barretta has said that around Halloween time, “People look for little trips to Salem and Lilydale in New York, which is a big psychic center.”

Hollywood Psychics said that “80% of psychics surveyed recommend getting a reading on Halloween because people tend to be more open-minded and to concentrate better on their past and present memories on historically spiritual days.”

Final Thoughts

Some people believe in Halloween myths that this is a holiday that can encourage people to spend their money on psychic readings, which may or may not be accurate.

If you are someone who celebrates Halloween, use this holiday as a time to make fun of ghosts and other superstitions, and don’t let psychics exploit vulnerable people into getting readings.

  1. So let me get this straight: we have one day to dress up as scary stuff & it’s all okay, but talking to a psychic on that day is frowned upon?? 😂 Sounds like a double standard to me!

  2. .Umm… does anyone else find it ironic that we fear witches but love dressing as them? 🙃 Maybe we should rethink how we celebrate instead of blaming psychics!

  3. I totally agree with the article! Halloween is so fun, and it should be about having a great time with friends and family. Who cares if some people believe in ghosts? 🎃 Let’s celebrate!

  4. !Hallowen is best time ever! 🍬🕷️ I love candy and costumes but this stuff about psychics makes no sense!! Who wants to talk to ghosts anyway?! Let’s just have fun and eat candy!!

  5. This article highlights a crucial issue in society. The psychic industry indeed preys on vulnerable individuals, particularly during emotional times like Halloween. Awareness can prevent exploitation of sensitive people.

  6. ‘Psychics are fraudulent’ says the article yet here we are still believing in fairy tales! Why not expose more than just one side of this debate? It’s simply too biased for my taste.

  7. This post is so misleading. It makes it seem like all psychics are frauds! What about the ones who actually help people? This black-and-white thinking is harmful, not everyone exploits others! 😒

    • You’re missing the point. Even if a few help, the majority are just after money! People need to be careful and not fall for these scams, especially during Halloween!

    • But aren’t most psychics just con artists? I mean, how can you trust someone who claims to talk to the dead? It’s just ridiculous to me! 🤷‍♀️

  8. The discussion around Halloween is necessary but let’s not forget it’s also a time for joy and community spirit! It doesn’t have to be all gloom and doom; we can enjoy without exploiting others!
